He a partner with his bro EgbertGarnett, mercantile, Fairview, Highland Co OH; they also ran store Russel Station ca 12 yrs. He moved to Knox Co IL purchased land and farmed for four yrs, exchanged farm in 1867 for one in Green Twp, Clinton Co OH, with P.O. New Vienna, where lived rest of life. Known as "Dove Farm".
